Visit Preparation
Preparing for Your Visit
At your child’s first visit to our clinic, the surgeon will perform a thorough, patient-centered evaluation of any concerns, including a physical examination. If indicated, we will schedule any imaging studies that may be needed. We will go over the possible diagnosis for your child’s condition, with a thorough discussion about treatment options. We will offer ample opportunity to answer all questions from patients and parents. It’s our goal to provide the most comfortable environment possible to make decisions regarding your child’s care.
In some cases, your child’s pediatrician will schedule your first visit with us after performing an initial exam and testing. When this happens, please ask your pediatrician if there are any test results that may be helpful to share with our team. If so, let us know ahead of time so we can have those results on hand during your appointment.
We will always see patients after surgery to make sure everything is progressing as planned and desired. Depending on your child’s condition, we may schedule a number of follow-up appointments to monitor progress. Our surgeons continue to see patients as long as they need follow-up.
Our team’s social worker can provide information about support groups, lodging and transportation related to surgery, and resources for financial aid.
